AAF-Houston is proud to announce Tammy J. Guest as our 2024 Silver Medal Recipient. With more than forty years’ experience in Houston’s marketing, advertising, and media fields, and a passion for philanthropy and education, Tammy is a true legend and leader in our community.
Tammy graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Business Technology with a minor in marketing, and began her career interning at Taylor, Brown & Barnhill, working on the Foley’s and Safeway accounts. From there she joined two local creative guys starting a new ad agency… “Stan and Lou”. Tammy led both Account Service and Media for the agency, working on accounts such as Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Scripps Clinic, Lone Star College and more. She left Stan & Lou for a stint at Love Advertising, serving as VP Media Director for several years. Mid-career, Tammy made the move to the media side of the business, joining ABC13/KTRK to lead and develop their digital sales department. With computer technology in her background, an understanding of this new medium and how it fits in with traditional media became her specialty, starting with digital ads, followed by mobile ads, programmatic, email, social and video streaming.
During this period, she also joined the founding Houston board of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and helped bring The Race for the Cure to Houston. Giving back to the advertising community became a passion for Tammy – particularly working with college students interested in our industry. She joined the AAF-Houston Student Conference and Competition committee, and served on that committee for over twenty years. She also served on the Houston Advertising Education Foundation board, awarding over fifteen scholarships a year. Tammy went on to serve as Chairman of AAF-Houston Chairman for 2015 – 2016, earning AAF National Club of year and President of the year. She received the Spirit of AAF-Houston Award in 2017 and the Honorary Life Member Award in 2021. Remaining active in the media community, she served the Media Alliance of Houston’s advisory board, and won annual Star awards for Digital Sales Manager of year in 2008, 2014 and 2018. Maintaining her passion for educating the next generation, she also taught a senior level communications class at the University of Houston’s Valenti School of Communication for four years.
Tammy currently works with The Carson Group advertising agency as their Director of Digital. She has been married to married to Lonnie Guest for 38 years, and they have a daughter Marissa and son Quinn. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, and chasing after her two grandchildren.
